There are people who will never look at life the same way again.

We become stronger and smarter through all the lies and betrayals we face in life, even if it doesn’t seem that way at first. The people in this article were shocked by close friends or by things that didn’t go as planned. But they didn’t let it slow them down. Instead, they were brave and shared their stories online.

“Our apartment is cheap to rent because the woman next door is crazy at 80 years old.” At 4 a.m., she starts making loud noises to wake up the neighbors. A young man came to rent. He just smiled when we told him. A year went by, and we were shocked that he was still there. Most people left after 8 weeks. After that, the woman died. They quickly put her house on the market, so we went inside to take a look. We were horrified to find a picture of her hugging the guy who rents our apartment on her nightstand. We found out that he was her grandson and that she had made sure all of our renters left on purpose so that he could rent it for cheap. We were helpless when the guy disappeared a few days after she died.

My boyfriend and I went to a friend’s wedding. He began cheating on me with a girl who sat at our table at the wedding. It took me a few months to find out. It turned out that I paid for his train tickets to see her. This is R**hampolicy on Reddit.

A friend of seven years told me she needed help paying her rent because she lost her job. I gave her a lot of money, and a month or two later I found out she was partying on yachts in Spain (we live in the US). A friend of mine showed me her Instagram posts when I told him what was going on. I’m not on any social media sites. From FrenchBowler on Reddit

I had two “friends” when I was in seventh grade. I saw one of them look at the other and nod at me one day as I walked toward them in the library. It was like they were saying, “Oh, look, here he comes.” The other one then rolled his eyes at me. They probably didn’t think I could see them because I was so far away. After that, I broke up with my “friend.” Not a known author/Reddit

I try to be nice to the teenage daughter of my roommate all the time. Because her parents work late, she’s very awkward and seems lonely. But every time I try to talk to her, she lies about me. I feel so stupid and gullible. There have been five of these in the last three years. I can’t believe the betrayal. My friend Sanford tells me, “You’re the idiot to keep falling for it.” Everyone else thinks she’s really nice and innocent. He’s right. From moonkittiecat on Reddit

My dad died when I was 17. My stepmom threw all of my things in trash bags and put them on the curb. She also changed the locks on everything and kept every picture of my dad and me. faileybee on Reddit
