My husband told me I should get pregnant right after our wedding, and I was devastated to find out why.

Many things can make a couple unhappy, and cheating is one of the most important ones. It might not show up only after years of marriage; sometimes it shows up much earlier. A woman who had just gotten married recently found a message on her husband’s phone that revealed a shocking truth that would have stayed hidden otherwise. She was so upset that she looked for help online.

In a letter, she wrote:

“Hey,

My husband Tom and I met at my new job, and our friendship grew quickly. Since we had a strong and honest connection, we got married after only four months of dating. As someone who deeply believes in the sanctity of marriage and is excited about starting a family, I had no idea what Tom was really up to. Our story started out happy and full of hope, but the day after our wedding, things went badly.

“Let’s start trying to have a child.” Right away!” Tom made us do it just one day after our wedding. I was surprised because his excitement seemed way too strong. “Are you sure?” “We just got married,” I told him, trying to figure out why he was acting so quickly. “Yes, without a doubt,” he said. “There’s no better time than now to begin our journey together.” I felt uneasy about the way he spoke. Even though I had mixed feelings, I reluctantly agreed, hoping that his excitement was real and based on a love for our future.

A week later, though, a message from Tom’s phone caught my eye. When I found a message while he was in the shower, it broke my heart. The message asked, “Is she pregnant yet? Tom, remember what we agreed to!” It was his ex-girlfriend Marion who sent it.

Reading their emails from the past few days made my heart sink. “You have one year to get her pregnant.” Marion had written, “If you fail, you won’t get your inheritance.” “Don’t worry, I’m on it,” was Tom’s scary answer. As planned, everything is going well. The emails showed a cold, planned scheme. It looked like Tom only married me to have a child and get a big inheritance from my parents, who are very wealthy. He might have planned to get a divorce from me after getting the inheritance and go back to his ex.

I’m having a hard time understanding the betrayal I’ve found. I’m not sure what to do next. Your help is very important to me.

Sincerely, Rose”
