There are often family mysteries that are just waiting to be found. A couple’s happy married life was turned upside down when a surveillance camera showed a scary family secret. The wife looked online for tips on how to handle this touchy matter.
In a letter, she wrote:
While I was married to Raymond two years ago, and when our son Howie was born, our home was filled with happiness. But as my mother-in-law Lucy started babysitting Howie more often and making her visits more regular, I started to feel less at ease.
At first, I appreciated Lucy’s help because it let me focus more on my job. Later, though, I began to notice that when my MIL left our house, something wasn’t quite right. There were personal papers all over the place, my jewelry box was slightly off-center, and drawers were left half-open. When I told Raymond about my worries, he always brushed them off, making excuses for his mother’s possible intrusions. But something in my gut told me that wasn’t true.
I put a hidden camera in our bedroom to keep an eye on her because I wanted to protect my privacy. Even though this choice made me feel bad, I knew it had to be made. The camera only caught normal things happening in my life for a few days, like my mother-in-law reading stories to my baby and putting him to sleep.
I began to think I was crazy for being suspicious until I saw video from one morning that changed everything. As I watched the video, I finally saw my MIL look through my things. After putting Howie to sleep, she looked through my diary and Raymond’s work papers while she was in our bedroom.
My husband and I were both happy and shocked when I told him to come see what I had found. As we kept looking at the video together, a strange figure showed up on the screen. When we zoomed in, we saw that the person was Raymond’s father, a man we thought was dead. This turned our lives upside down. Even though a lot of time had passed, he was easy to spot, especially because of the unique tattoo on his arm that Raymond had talked about from his childhood. My husband began to shake when he saw what he thought was his dead father. We couldn’t believe it…
