After we broke up, my ex told me I had to buy her engagement ring back. I gave her a huge reality check.

A 35-year-old man told us about his exciting engagement story. He was deeply in love with his fiancée and asked her to marry him with a unique ring that had been passed down through his family members and was very valuable. The man in need later found out that his ex-girlfriend had cheated on him, so he broke up with her.

Common sense says that what happened next doesn’t make sense because the story has been going in a pretty bad direction because of the man’s greedy ex. He didn’t give up, though, and taught her a lesson she’ll probably always remember.

Mark sent us a letter.

Mark, who is 35 years old, told his crazy story about a broken love and the bad things that happened after.

In the first part of his letter, Mark wrote, “I had been deeply in love with my fiancée, Laura, for more than seven years.” Our relationship began quickly and without warning, like a hurricane. I was truly happy with her; she was the woman of my dreams, my only one, and my everything. But my story doesn’t have a typical happy ending because something that was supposed to lead to a happy, long-lasting marriage ended all of a sudden.
My ex-girlfriend was a pathological liar and a woman I couldn’t trust. A lot of people in my story betray me, and there is greed, evil planning, and emotional pain. However, I finally achieved my goal, and I’d like to share how I taught this woman a lesson without even bothering her.

The next part of Mark’s story is, “So, Laura and I had been truly happy for these seven years, but everything turned upside down as soon as we got engaged.”

Mark was heartbroken when Laura cheated on him.

Mark said, “Laura and I seemed like we were meant to be together, but her harsh lies and cheating did a number on our relationship.”
After we got engaged, Laura’s affair with a coworker came to light. It hurt a lot to find out that the woman of my dreams had cheated on me in such a mean way. The last and most unacceptable thing that happened that caused us to break up was this. Because she betrayed me and broke my hopes and dreams, I was heartbroken and desperate. I couldn’t sleep at night and felt like the living dead.
Even more, I wanted to find the man she cheated on me with, face him, and ask him why he was better than me and why she lied to me about it. But this idea quickly became embarrassing for me, and I was suffering alone for a while, not being able to talk to even my closest family members.

But Laura didn’t seem to feel bad about what she did. Mark said, “My ex didn’t care at all about how I really felt.” She did start very heated arguments with me, but they were all based on her accusations and demands. She tried to make deals with me that were not fair, telling me that I owed her everything she had put into our relationship. I still don’t know how my beloved Laura turned into this angry, scandalous woman with no morals so quickly. She screamed and yelled a lot.

Mark had asked Laura to marry him earlier with a very special ring.

Mark goes on with his story by saying, “When my family heard about my breakup, they were all very sad.” All of them were involved in some way or another with our relationship from the first day we hooked up.
My mom thought this was a long-term relationship, like the one she had with my late father. When the time was right, she gave me a ring that had been in her family for a long time. This was something very special that cost a lot of money. That’s why I asked Laura to marry me with this ring. She was so happy to see it on her finger.
Things calmed down a bit after she cheated on me with her coworker and we broke up. Then I remembered this engagement ring, which was a sign of our future that was never meant to be. I really wanted this ring back because it held more family stories than a library. When I went to see Laura where she was staying, I asked her right away to give me back the ring. I thought it would be fine, but all of a sudden, anger and greed flashed in her eyes.

Mark said, “She wouldn’t give me the ring back and said she’d see how much the pawn shop would pay for it.” It made her feel better when she saw the fear in my eyes, and she quickly told me that she would give it back to me if I paid her $10,000. I had nothing to say.”

Mark was crushed by how bad things had turned out.

The man wrote, “I just wanted to know how I had never seen this woman’s real face before in our whole relationship.” That much money wasn’t in my pocket at the time, and I wouldn’t give it to her when she first asked. Then, though, I decided to step back from this scandal because I needed some time to think about it. I pretended to agree to her terms. We said goodbye and agreed that I would get in touch with her when I had enough money to buy the ring back from her.

“When I told my family about Laura’s wants and needs, Mark said, “my mother’s disappointment was really heavy.” I didn’t want to give in to Laura’s demands and give the family heirloom ring back to her, but she wanted me to pay her this much money. I promised myself I would find another way to do it.

“With my loyal friends by my side, we came up with a nice plan that would make any con artist proud,” the man said. Our only goal was to get even; we didn’t mean to hurt Laura, just teach her a lesson.

Laura had nothing left over because the plan worked out so well.

“One of my friends, whom Laura had never met, pretended to be a wealthy collector eager to buy one-of-a-kind jewelry,” Mark said. He called Laura and told her how excited he was to buy such a beautiful gem. He also told her he was willing to pay a huge $15,000 for the ring.
Laura was very pleased to find that she had a lot of money for something she had not even bought. So, she jumped at the chance and agreed right away to meet in person to make the deal. She didn’t even ask the collector how he got her information or how he knew about the ring in the first place.
The exchange was so good that it should have won an Oscar. Mark’s friend pretended to look at the ring very carefully before “dropping” it. He then swapped it for a fake one, gave it to her, and said that he needed some time to think about the purchase before putting so much money into it.

Mark wrote, “The way things turned out made my ex very unhappy.” She decided to do something about it herself and went to the pawn shop, where she was sure she could sell the ring for at least $15,000. She was so upset when she learned it wasn’t even a toy and the money she got from selling it wasn’t even enough to buy herself an ice cream.
This is how I got a scathing text from Laura, showing that she had made a mistake that cost her more than she thought. But I was proud of the lesson I taught her, and I hope she will remember it and use it to become a better person.
