Stories That Illustrate the True Nature of Housekeeping

No one likes living in filth, but cleaning is a whole different story. There are people who can’t even look at sponges and mops without getting scared while they clean the floors or do the dishes. There are times when our heroes didn’t want to clean either, and some of their stories are so funny that you don’t know whether to laugh or hug them.

– “While I was away, my husband stayed at home with our kids. Even though my husband is messy, when I got home, our apartment was clean. And when we went to sleep, I could smell strong perfume on the bed. I screamed and asked him questions all night.
A bag fell out of the pillow when I finally threw it. As soon as I picked it up, I felt bad about myself. I forgot that I had put lavender sachets in the pillow to help me sleep better. My husband told me I was crazy and wouldn’t talk to me for a day.” Overheard or Idear

– “My wife and I are very neat and always wash the dishes the right way. But when we bought a dishwasher, we saw that we had been wrong about how well we could clean. Everything was spotless: pots, lids, plates, and more. What about the silverware? It looked brand new!
A dishwasher is usually the best gift for any family. And as soon as possible is best.” Hottabov and Pikabu

– “A funny story came about because I cleaned the bathroom while I brushed my teeth. A call came in while I was washing my hands in a restaurant. As I talked, I took a small hand towel and began wiping down the sink, mirror, nightstand, and soap dish. The cleaner who walked into the bathroom at that very moment had the most priceless look on her face. The worst part was that I had no idea what I was doing.” This is Lika Mad/ADME.

– “Most of the time, when I sweep the floor, I don’t look in corners or behind doors, where dirt isn’t very obvious. Even though I sweep every day, dust and hair still get stuck in the corners because I’m not paying attention. After that, I feel like Cinderella—I start cleaning everywhere, and when I see the mess under the couch, I feel so bad about myself.” Leila / ADME

– “When I visited as a young adult, my mom was proud to show off a calendar or table mat that said, “A clean house is a sign of a wasted life.” She knew I had a hard time with her disorganized and messy habits.
No, mother dearest. Your wasted life as a “stay-at-home mum” who doesn’t do any mum-ing, your lack of progress at work, your lack of other meaningful accomplishments, your inability to keep healthy or loving relationships, even with your own children, and your terrible parenting are proof that you have wasted your life. The fact that the house is dirty is the cherry on top.” [Hot-Ant-5526] on Reddit

– “I always believed my ex-wife was too strict with our daughter. Three months ago, my daughter called me crying and asked if she could move in with me. They were shocked when I told them I was going to take the child or I would sue my ex. My ex looked calm, even though I was scared. Even more, she was happy because she could now go on secondment to another country for six months. We told our daughter to pack her things.
At first, everything seemed fine, but then I saw that the daughter was very messy. It was unpleasant to go into her room at all. She yelled at me when I tried to tell her she needed to clean up, and when I kept telling her she would call social services, she finally gave up. I don’t know what to do until my ex comes back home in three months.” Overheard or Idear

– “My husband, who always does his own laundry, left a pen that went off, and I still have six loads to do today. There are still stains on the dryer after using rubbing alcohol, and the paper towel is at least blue. I also don’t think I should run the dryer with all that alcohol on it; I think it will blow up. A little oven cleaner didn’t work when I tried it. I guess I’ll go to a laundromat until then.” From Glopez1223 on Reddit
