A “Dead” Man Is Startled Back to Life by India’s Endless Pothole Bumps

Though they are a source of ridicule and ire, as well as discomfort, inconvenience, and costly repairs, on Friday one of India’s infamous potholes saved a life.

The “late” Darshan Singh Brar, who passed away suddenly at the age of 80 from a chest infection, was being brought to the Indian equivalent of a wake.

The ambulance carrying him was hit by a pothole on the roads of Nising, in the state of Haryana in far-northern India, just as his family and friends were getting ready for a feast and cremation.

At that moment, the grandson of Mr. Brar, who was present in the ambulance, observed his hand moving. He checked his pulse and, to his great surprise, discovered that there was one. He told the driver to head straight for the closest hospital.

After being deemed viable, he was sent to the Rawal Hospital located in the city of Karnal.

It truly is a miracle. Balwan Singh, one of Mr. Brar’s other grandsons, stated, “We are now hoping that my grandfather recovers soon.” “We received congratulations from everyone who had come to mourn his passing, and we asked that they partake of the food we had prepared. By God’s grace, he is breathing right now, and we’re hoping for better.

As a well-liked and respected member of the Nising community, “an entire colony” was named in his honor, according to NDTV news.

He was brought to the hospital in Nising and placed on a ventilator because he had been feeling very sick. Four days later, his heart stopped. He was pronounced dead and removed from the ventilator.

The grandfather’s heartbeat has returned to normal, according to medical professionals at Rawal Hospital, and he is breathing without the use of a ventilator. Although they are unsure of the exact cause, they surmise that there might have been a technical glitch when the other hospital declared him dead.

The next time you are considering complaining to the council or town hall about potholes on your street, remember Darshan Singh Brar’s story.
