Most new moms want to remember this one-of-a-kind event for themselves and their husbands. But things might not go as planned, that’s why our new mom looked online for help. By letting his parents be in the delivery room with her, her husband is making her do the worst thing that could happen.
This is the letter she sent us:
“Hey!”
We got married last year after dating for three years. It’s been fine between us, and we get along fine. I am in labor right now and am having a problem I didn’t expect. Every time I think about giving birth, I only see my husband and I. I guess that’s how all couples who are expecting a baby feel. But my husband just told me that he wants his parents to be there too.
This is a very private event for me, and I thought it would be a quiet moment just the two of us. He told them it would mean a lot, even though I didn’t like having other people in the room at such a vulnerable time.
They raised him as an only child and are very close to both of them. However, this time it’s about us and our child-to-be. We never talked about this before we got married because I thought it was normal for him to be the only one in the delivery room with me. He said he wouldn’t change his mind, and I’m not going to either. He kept calling me while I was getting ready to go see my best friend.
Please tell me what to do. Are you sure I’m not being reasonable? In this case, what would you do? I need to figure this out quickly and would like to know what you think.
