Even though science and knowledge help us make sense of life’s events, there are still parts of it that are mysterious and enigmatizing. That’s what makes it so interesting.

There were times and events in the stories that people shared that they couldn’t explain, no matter how hard they tried. They eventually turned these moments into scary events that still make them jump when they think about them.

When my daughter was six, we drove by an old, empty house that used to be a “bad tack.” Her question came out of nowhere: did I remember when she worked and lived there? I got a chill and asked her what she meant.

The next thing she said chilled me to the bone. She told me that she had lived and worked there before, but that bad things had happened and she had to start over. She doesn’t remember saying that when she was 32 years old.
