It’s common knowledge that dogs are man’s closest friend and that they have played a significant role in human history. It is thought that between 18,800 and 32,100 years ago, when a pack of wolves first encountered European hunter-gatherers, the bond between people and dogs was established.
Many modern dog breeds have endured for thousands of years, yet those ancient types are vanished. Eight of the world’s oldest dog breeds are included in the list below, and they are all still beloved pets among modern humans.

It is thought that the frigid northern region of China is where the Chow Chow first appeared. The Han Dynasty (c. 150–200 B.C.) is represented by a recently found bas-relief that shows a hunting dog with a Chow Chow-like appearance.
Chow Chows are known as Songshi Quan, which translates to “puffy-lion dog,” in their native nation.
The breed is distinguished by its blue-black tongue, which reaches to its lips. This makes it the only breed in which the oral cavity and lips are both colored blue-black.
Despite their reputation for being hostile toward humans, Chow Chows can be trained to be obedient and well-mannered via regular and early socialization.
A lot of well-known persons have owned Chow Chows as pets, including Sigmund Freud, Martha Stewart, Elvis Presley, and Calvin Coolidge.
Chinese clay sculptures from around 206 B.C. are the first known depictions of the ancient Chinese Shar Pei breed, which is well-known for its wrinkles and folds in the skin. The term “sand skin” refers to the rough, short coat of the breed of dogs.
The Shar Pei was created to hunt wild boar, guard the home of its master, and keep farmers’ animals safe from harm.
Because they are typically independent dogs, Shar Pei’s are excellent companions for solitary individuals or elderly families with children. Their puppies have a lot of wrinkles, but as they get older, they loosen and spread out.
